Williamsburg Engagement Shoot – Eren & Sydney

Bright and early this morning I headed to Williamsburg, Brooklyn to photograph Eren & Sydney. We started out on the stoop where Sydney proposed to Eren and moved our way around the neighborhood.

Once again, it was absolutely freezing (I’m beginning to think that’s an engagement shoot requirement now!), but you’d never know it by looking at the photos. Eren and Sydney were a lot of fun to be around – thanks for a fun shoot and congrats on your engagement!

BLT FIsh Wedding – Michael & Stephanie

I’m not quite sure where to begin. When I met up with Stephanie and Michael a few weeks ago, I felt we hit it off instantly. You can always just tell when you’re in for an amazing experience and I looked forward to spending their wedding day with them. I always feel honored to be the one capturing such important moments, but this time around I felt so much more than that.

From Janet to Jim and Junius to Juanita (oooh, I love that both sets of parents’ names start with ‘J’!) I felt like I had become part of a family. From the first picture I snapped, I don’t think I stopped laughing and smiling all day! Normally when I come home from photographing a wedding, my body aches, but this time my cheeks ached from the nonstop smiling I did.

Two lovely families and their dearest friends came together to celebrate the love of two amazing individuals. I feel blessed to have been a part of Stephanie and Michael’s day and I wish everyone lots and lots of love and happiness.

I love the look on Stephanie’s face. She had just declared that she was “a bride”!

This was among my favorite moments. As I head upstairs to snap some shots of Michael, he’s casually sprawled out on the bed, watching TV. Sorry, Michael, for tattling about the whole ‘not having showered yet…” thing. We ladies need to stick together!
Ahh the tie-tying… Thank goodness for blackberries!
If anyone is allowed to chug champaign in a chapel, it’s Marygrace.
At BLT Fish.
An impromptu dance ‘in the moonlight’.
During the ‘car story’ toast.
Smiles like these just can’t be faked.

Candid Kids School Photos!

My shooting schedule has been one thing after another, after another and I love it! It feels fantastic and I’m grateful to be so busy. However, with this busyness, I do realize I have been neglecting my little blog. That does not feel so fantastic.

Yesterday I had my first of many pre-school photo shoots! We’re not talking your boring old school photos. These are totally candid and totally fun. I had a blast capturing the kids at Rory’s Room in Brooklyn, NY. The kids and I had lots of great laughs which resulted in totally adorable images.

For now, I’m posting my flyer… but soon there will be some photos up. Just want to give parents the first look.

Flash Sync…

Yesterday I traveled up to Connecticut to spend some time being a nerd about photography things with my good friend Susan ( We spent the day in a gorgeous (and huge) barn photographing together. We synced our flashes using the Canon wireless transmitter… played with gels and hair lights… and had lots of good belly laughs.

I’ve only had a quick glance at the images, but thought I’d get a jump on blogging them (trying to be good at keeping up!) Here is the second image I shot of our lovely (and patient!) model Ina.

Janine’s Baby Shower

Ahhh… baby things.

Today I had a wonderful time at Janine’s Baby Shower. She and Seth got so many fantastic presents and, though she was not too surprised, she seemed to have a great time.

Seth and Janine are going to make wonderful parents and I’m excited to photograph little Marley when she is born!!

The handmade centerpieces and favors were so cute!
Mommy and Daddy to be!
The very entertaining Madison, who insisted I call her ‘Petunia Juice’…

Charles Hamilton

After a shoot for Hip Hop Connection, I’m always itching to put a couple of images on my blog or add the photos to my web gallery. Obviously I can’t because I’m to wait till the magazine goes to print. I got the idea though (can’t believe I haven’t thought of it before!) to post screenshots from the magazine’s website when one of my photos is featured on there as well. Here is I took for a feature on Charles Hamilton. It was taken in Harlem, on election day, with the lensbaby.
