24 Hours

I really, really, really love my job. Some days, when I’m on my way to ‘work’ I get the urge to pinch myself, because it’s hard to believe that I actually get to do what I love to do for a living. There many things I love about being a photographer, but the best things of all are the people I get to meet and the places I get to go.

I’m also luck to be a photographer in New York, because I have an endless supply of amazing ‘backdrops’ and I try to never take that for granted. I also think its amazing that I get to interact with so many wonderful people! From musicians, to new parents, to couples in love, to aspiring actors, to hysterical pre-schoolers… how could I ever get bored?

I’ve been super busy lately, so blogging is going to have to take a bit of a back-seat. But here is a peak at all the fun shoots I had in the last 24 hours (minus all the film I’ve been shooting, which I hope to post soon!).

Andrew Thompson

This year has been such an exciting photography year for me. It’s been nonstop-busy, which is definitely how I like it to be. I’m looking forward to the projects this summer will bring.

I’m pretty much booked solid for the month of June, which includes a trip to Jamaica from the 28th to the 2nd to photograph a destination wedding (complete with a trash the dress session!). I promise to post lots of pictures while I’m there.

As mentioned in my last post, I recently did a shoot with Andrew Thompson in my favorite Brooklyn bar, Boat. I’ve had this idea in my head for a shoot for some time and I knew Andrew would be up for it! Enjoy…

HHC Digital

As I posted a few blog entries ago, I recently was flown to Atlanta to do some press photos of and shoot a magazine cover featuring DOOM.

Well the magazine is now available for download! Check it out by clicking here

Doom

Recently I was flown to Atlanta by Lex Records to photograph the artist MF Doom.

Whenever people as me about photographing hip-hop artist, they always expect some elaborate story or glamorous encounter, but that’s never the case. It’s normally the exact opposite. A boring tale of how I waited around in a midtown office for 2 hours while the artist I’m meant to be photographing was off buying jeans (true story). Nothing glamorous, until this.

This was an adventure involving 4 tiny airplanes, very little sleep, an electric car, lots of wrong turns, too many black and tans (for some, not me), a code word, hired police, surrendering my iPhone, delicious fish tacos, sitting in a pool of lime juice… the list goes on and on.

All of it very worth it. Here is a sneak peak at a few of the resulting images.

Charles Hamilton

After a shoot for Hip Hop Connection, I’m always itching to put a couple of images on my blog or add the photos to my web gallery. Obviously I can’t because I’m to wait till the magazine goes to print. I got the idea though (can’t believe I haven’t thought of it before!) to post screenshots from the magazine’s website when one of my photos is featured on there as well. Here is I took for a feature on Charles Hamilton. It was taken in Harlem, on election day, with the lensbaby.

Foundation Magazine Release Party

Last night I attended Foundation Magazine’s 9th Issue Release Party at Don Hill’s downtown. It was a great time. Here are a few photos of the night’s performances.
