Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain – A Vintage Love Shoot

If you’re in Brooklyn you have to check out Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Shop. Oh my, it’s a beautiful, stunning venue (and delicious too)! Recently I was asked to capture a vintage evening put together by Kathy Malone of Clementine Events and featuring some of my favorite wedding vendors. I adore all things vintage. As a kid, I was often known to wear poodle skirts and cat-eye glasses just for fun, and my appreciation for vintage elements has continued to grow (although I don’t rock poodle skirts any more!). Enjoy the photos!

Central Park Day After Shoot

Say hello (again) to the lovely Marisa and Matt. I shot their wedding last October (check it out here). Now here they are rocking a really fun day after shoot in Central Park. A lot of people ask what a ‘day after shoot’ is, so here is a look. They’re great fun photo sessions that happen post wedding. I love them because I get to see my clients again and couples love them because they get a portrait session without the stress and pressures they’re feeling on their wedding day. We lucked out with some unseasonably warm weather and got some really fun, stunning photographs.

Me and my iPhone

I take a lot of photos with my iPhone. A lot. And I tend to do very little with them. Until now. I’ve decided to begin a weekly series of iPhonography. I’m not sure what it will become, but I’m excited. So today’s post is about me.

I know clients and potential clients often want to know a bit more about me. Usually this happens over a coffee at our initial meeting, but there is no reason I shouldn’t bring a little of ‘me’ to the blog every now and again. So, here goes…

I love Brooklyn.
Coney Island
And my cat Moo.

I drink a lot of coffee.

I used to teach art.

I’m a Canon shooter.

I wish cats could use Photoshop.

I love to travel,
Jet Blue
but I also love keeping things local.

Christmastime is my favorite time of year.

Website Update

Right now I’m in the process of updating my website, so please excuse its messiness! 2009 came and went so quickly and I don’t think I took the time to update my site more than once… oops! So as part of my new year plans, I’m taking the time to add new galleries (yippee!) and new features to bring my site up to speed. After all it is 2010!

Since the site is currently down, I wanted to make sure the blog is as current as can be. This past weekend I kicked the new year off in style with a wonderful (and absolutely freezing!!!) wedding shoot in lower Manhattan. Despite the unbearable temperature, we got some pretty amazing shots! Here are my favorite two so far. More to come though!

DUMBO Family Portraits – Marci, Sean & Mercedes

On Monday morning, I headed back down to Dumbo to photograph Marci, Sean and Mercedes. The weather was amazing – a perfect mix of sun and clouds and a gorgeous blue sky! The three of them are an adorable and it was such a pleasure to spend time with them. Here are a few of my favorite shots from our session. Enjoy!

Joanne & Kevin (part one)

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to meet Kevin and Joanne’s families when I photographed their pre-wedding celebration at Chakra Restaurant in Paramus, NJ. The restaurant was beautiful and the food – amazing! But more than that, Kevin and Joanne have wonderful families and friends who I’m so excited to spend the day with this Sunday… it was great to have a preview of what the wedding day is going to be like. I can’t wait!

Preschool Shoots

This round of Candid Kid School Photos are complete. I had a wonderful time taking photographs of such adorable preschoolers. All of the staff and kids were such a pleasure to be around. While taking pictures I had the chance to do a bit of goofing around with the kids. We made cameras out of legos, played in the snow, sang and danced to Laurie Berkner and even did some yoga with Lauren from Bija Kids!

As parents give me permission, I’ll add more images to this post, but for now I leave you with one of my favorite shots!

Oklahoma!

I had the pleasure of photographing another production at Manhasset High School. Having done plenty of High School theater, I was (again) amazed at the quality level of this production and its stars. Nice work guys!

Public art is over. ahhh… I will post photos of the table soon.

Now I get to focus on my own art! Wahoo.

I have decided to try my hand at blogging (I do realize I’m taking the late pass on this).

I’m going to post photographs and such. My goal is 2 times a week, which will be easy to do once all my programs come to an end (which is quite soon!)

I’m not quite sure how to post a photograph yet, but I’m guessing it has something to do with that little icon above this typing box. The one that sort of looks like a photograph. Oooh, I did it! I uploaded a .jpg of my exhibit flyer. It opens on Monday!

Right now the colors look completely off. I’m hoping that’s just some sort of psychadelic ‘preview mode’. I guess I will soon find out.

I am off to teach a photography workshop at NYU. Fun.
