Lovely Feature: Nancy & Doug’s Wedding!

I’m very excited to have Nancy and Doug’s NYC Fire Museum wedding featured on Lovely today! Check it out here.

Me and My iPhone – Random

So for a while, I didn’t have an iPhone anymore… well I did, but it was a first generation and it was pretty crappy at photos. But then I sucked it up and bought a new one, so ‘Me and My iPhone’ Mondays are back! This one is kind of (or very) random.

Speaking of random, one day this key appeared in my purse. Is it yours?

I started a small collection of Domos (or ‘Biteys’) and at the same time, wasted my laundry money.

I, yet again, resisted a pair of baby Tom’s to put on Moo…

I did not resist these Campers though.

I attended a pretty amazing reunion show with some wonderful old friends.

I celebrated the (much anticipated) premiere of Glee with a 7-11 Slurpee (slushie!)

Revisited an old favorite book of mine.

And I stumbled upon some cool art after a shoot in DUMBO!

Montauk Club Wedding – Amanda and Jeffrey are Married!

I was really excited to work with Amanda and Jeffrey on their wedding day. After their engagement shoot, I knew their wedding would be perfect and I was right! Every detail was so well executed and it was obvious how much time and thought went into the planning. Their family and friends were a total joy to be around and everyone clearly had a fabulous time celebrating the obvious love the two share.

I also got to shoot at the Montauk Club – a gorgeous venue – and work with some pretty fabulous vendors (see list below!). Congrats to Amanda and Jeffrey. Hope you’re enjoying your ‘mini-moon’.

Embarrassingly, I can’t figure out how to put links into a post from my iPad… so, these will be updated tomorrow.

Daniel NYC Wedding – Jennifer and Jason are Married!

Jennifer and Jason spent the morning getting ready at the Yale Club and were married at Daniel in Manhattan. The two had one of the most elegant, yet incredible laid back, weddings I’ve ever captured. The entire evening was sprinkled with little touches of ‘them,’ that every guest was able to recognize and relate to. I had such a wonderful day with them, sharing in their moments, but one stands out so strongly that I have to share it on the blog. Before cutting the cake, Jason and Jennifer both gave very touching toasts. During Jennifer’s, she told a story of being a little girl and practicing violin for her first recital along with the record, while her father sat with her, resetting the needle over and over again. Fast forward to five years later, when she was ten, and old enough to get an adult sized violin. It was very expensive and her uncle drove it to her family from New Jersey on Thanksgiving that year. When her parents gave her the violin they told her, “This is your wedding present.” Fast forward years later, she meets Jason and it just so happens that his favorite piece is that same song that Jennifer practiced tirelessly with the record for her very first violin recital. After sharing this touching story, Jennifer played that piece on the violin for her husband, her parents and all of the wedding guests… I have to say it was truly one of the most touching moments I’ve ever had the opportunity to capture (I will admit that even I didn’t have dry eyes as she played!). I loved spending the day with Jennifer, Jason and their family and friends. They’re a wonderful couple and I wish them all the best!

Just a little update…

Hi Blog readers!

I know I haven’t updated like I should be, but I’ve been sick with a summer cold and it hasn’t been much fun… I’ve also been making sure our first week with Brooklyn Betrothed (do you ‘like’ us on Facebook yet?) is going smoothly. In case you haven’t visited the site, I’m going to post a little snippet of it below. But I definitely encourage you to check it out – we will be updating it filled with lots and lots of wedding planning advice and inspiration.

Thanks!

Introducing Brooklyn Betrothed!

Brooklyn Betrothed
It is such an exciting day to be announcing the launch of Brooklyn Betrothed.

I hope that you will take the time to check it out! For several months we ladies have been working hard, so it’s exciting to see it all come to life! I hope that you will check in with us over at Brooklyn Betrothed where we will be posting lots of expert advice on planning a wedding. You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter!

Union Pool Engagement Shoot – Nancy and Doug!

Wow, time really flies. I photographed Nancy and Doug’s engagement session at Union Pool a few months back and their wedding is next week already! In honor of the approach of their big day, I wanted to blog some of my favorites from their engagement shoot. The two chose to be photographed at Union Pool, because it’s where they met and I was happy to head back to my old neighborhood of Williamsburg to capture them in such a sentimental place. We had an excellent time at the engagement session (Nancy is also a big gLee fanatic so we had lots and lots of gossiping to do!). It was great getting to know them better and I’m certain their wedding will not disappoint! Hope all the last minute details are going smoothly and I’ll see you two very soon!

Grow with Me – Stella is One!

Sometimes it feels like I have the absolute best job in the world. It has been such an honor to be able to capture Stella from her mommy’s belly to her first birthday. It feel like just yesterday that I was snapping away at Wendy and Kenny’s wedding and now here’s their adorable baby girl turning one! I thought I’d put together a little trip down memory lane for the blog, ending with Stella’s first birthday cake smash. Enjoy!

Wendy’s maternity shoot.

And now she’s one!

Happy first birthday Stellie!!!

Darryl and Michael Marry!

First, hooray for New York! While part of me wants to say, “it’s about time, New York!” I’m just so happy the time is finally here. It was a complete honor to spend this past Sunday with Michael and Darryl capturing their marriage at Queens Borough Hall and then their celebration with family and friends later that day. The two have been together 26 (yup, 26) years and together are raising a super awesome daughter, Chloe. They’re a fabulous family and spending the day with them, recording these memories was truly wonderful. I hope you enjoy this peek at their day. Again, congrats to Michael and Darryl and congrats to New York State!

When I arrived at City Hall, I was warmly greeted by Chloe (showing off their number), Darryl’s mother, Michaels brother and niece.

Loving this moment between Chloe and Darryl.

In the judge’s chambers, the two shared a short and sweet ceremony.

A favorite of mine, the three watch the judge sign the marriage certificate.

Chloe and grandma, post-ceremony.

What to do next? Why drink, eat and be married of course! The back room of their favorite local Chinese restaurant was taken over by the couple, close family and friends to eat (incredibly delicious) food while celebrating the morning’s festivities and the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. More from there to come, but I hope you enjoyed these for now!

Do I get a disc?

This is the most commonly asked question (aside from ‘what should we wear?’ which I will definitely address on the blog soon!). The answer? Yup, always! All wedding packages, engagement shoots, family shoots, newborn sessions, etc. come with a dvd of high resolution digital files. This also means no hidden fees after the shoot as the cost of the disc is included in your sitting fee.

What exactly does this means? It means that the high resolution digital negatives are yours forever to print from, make products with, upload to facebook, and so forth. If you’re not up for printing and album making, that’s fine too. You can always purchase prints, cards, albums, etc. from your online gallery. But the digital files are always yours to keep. They’re your memories after all!
