Red Hook Engagement Shoot – Barry and Bethany

I’m super excited to be blogging Barry and Bethany’s engagement shoot! I’ve been looking forward to photographing these two ever since our first meeting and after shooting their engagement session, I can’t wait to capture their wedding this fall! After our plan to start at the Smith-9 Street station was foiled due to weekend construction, we headed down to Red Hook for plan B and I’m so happy we did! Beginning at Fairway and ending up at Ikea, we had a great time exploring some of my old and new favorite Red Hook locations together. The ongoing joke was that they couldn’t stop kissing and they sort of couldn’t, but it is an engagement shoot, right?! They were troopers too, because I had a ‘vision’ for a shot that led to them getting totally drenched by Ikea’s sprinkler system (see last few images). Thanks for a great shoot!

Even after getting drenched, they kept on kissing…

Noah

This is going to be a week of many blogs (I hope). In four days, I did six shoots and I intend to blog them all…

We’ll start with Noah! I first met Noah when he was just born and it is amazing to see how much of a little person he’s turned into in just six months! He is totally adorable and was such a trooper the entire session – I don’t think he got upset even once! Here are a few shots from our session together on Saturday morning. Enjoy!

Kayla & Mike

As you can see by the snow on the ground, this engagement shoot took place a few weeks ago. I sincerely hope that this is my last shoot that has snow in it for a long time (did I just jinx this gorgeous weather?! I hope not!).

Kayla and Mike were so fun to photograph. There is a chance that Kayla was dangling the idea of fried food at Chip Shop over Mike’s head the entire time, but he was a really good sport. It was a cold day after one of our big snowstorms. We walked around Boerum Hill and Brooklyn Heights shooting in some spots I’ve always wanted to shoot – including Brooklyn Height’s Love Lane! Enjoy and happy (almost) spring!

Here Comes The Brooklyn Bride (And Other Things)

It’s unusual for me to post like this, but I’ve been up to some exciting things (in addition to shooting). I wanted to share them all with you!

First, I’m putting together Sam and Lee (part two) for the blog. Their elegant reception was held at ReBar in Dumbo. Here is a sneak peak with a promise of a full post coming soon…

I also spent a few days in Altoon, Pa at a workshop with the amazingly talented Thom Rouse. The workshop was hosted by the wonderful Tammy and Tamar of London Wolfe Photography in their ginormous studio/coffee shop (Yep, that’s right! These talented ladies opened a coffee shop in their studio space, ingeniously marrying my two favorite things – coffee and photography!). I learned so much while I was there and I interacted with some awesome people. It was a great time and exciting to be back in Brooklyn with lots of new photoshop skills and photography ideas! Here is a shot (captured by Tammy) of everyone working…

Next, I’m getting ready for my first Bridal Show (gulp)! I’m really excited about it especially because it’s in Brooklyn and featuring a lot of great local vendors! Check it out:

You can purchase tickets here: Buy Tickets Online! If you go, please stop by my booth and say hello!

And last, but certainly not least, I’ve been accepted as a photographer for The Littlest Heroes Project! If you’ve never heard of it, check it out. It’s an amazing organization.

So for now, that’s it. But I hope to post again real soon.

Sam & Lee (Part One)

You may remember Sam and Lee from their adorable engagement session a few weeks ago.

Over the weekend I spent two amazing days with Sam, Lee, their family and friends, celebrating their marriage. They had the most intimate wedding ceremony I have ever witnessed. Set in their Bay Ridge, Brooklyn apartment with contributions from their friends and family, every detail was a personal touch. The entire time I felt like I was being let in on a beautiful secret and capturing it was a complete honor.

Congratulations Sam and Lee. Stay tuned for day two…

Sam & Lee

On Wednesday, I headed to Bay Ridge for Sam and Lee’s engagement session. I had such a great time getting to know them – it made me super excited to photograph their wedding next month!

When I turned up to their apartment, they had set up their Scrabble board to be photographed. For those who don’t know, I’m a scrabble fanatic, so this was very very exciting to see and a great way to start off the shoot!

2009 Best of Engagement Shoots

I’m so happy to be posting my best of engagement shoots for 2009. It was only mid-2009 that I began including engagement shoots as a part of my wedding package, but I’ll never go back! I have found that brides and grooms who take advantage of engagement shoots feel more at ease being photographed on their wedding day. They know how I work and we both get to know each other’s personalities more. It’s like a dress rehearsal!
